The Society of Medicine & Curiosity is open.
Interrogando Discimus. Scientia Sine Timore.
We learn by questioning. Knowledge without fear.
The Society of Medicine & Curiosity was built on a single premise: understanding medicine is too important to leave to formal education alone — and too important to leave only to those who received one.
This is not a content account. It is not a wellness feed. It is not medical advice dressed up as education. It is a Society — with standards, with values, and with a genuine commitment to the belief that health knowledge belongs to anyone willing to engage with it seriously.
Today, the Society opens its doors.
What the Society is
SMAC publishes across seven departments. Each has a distinct voice, a distinct purpose, and a distinct audience. Together they cover the territory that formal health education leaves unmapped.
🫀 Organ-ized Chaos covers anatomy and physiology — not as lists to memorise, but as systems to understand. The body is not a collection of isolated parts. It is an argument. The Society follows the argument.
💡 Facts Aren't Enough covers information literacy. Having the information is not the same as understanding it. Knowing how to evaluate it — to read a study, interrogate a headline, spot a conflict of interest — is the skill nobody taught. Until now.
⚠️ Definitely Not Medical Advice covers health myths. Someone has to say it. That claim you have believed your whole life? We have read the methods section.
🚑 Same Care Somewhere covers mobile integrated healthcare and the structural realities of who gets care, where, and how. The nearest clinic is 90 minutes away. The paramedic is the closest thing to primary care this community has seen in months.
🧠 Nobody Taught Us This covers the learning science that health professions programs treat as assumed knowledge but never actually teach. How to study. How to retain. How to know when you actually know something.
🤔 Actually, Though covers basic health knowledge the public was never formally given. No clinical assumptions. No gatekeeping. No judgment for not knowing something you were never taught.
🔍 Worth Watching, With Receipts covers the current moment in health. One major topic, surfaced and contextualized. The Society's considered take — evidence cited, the quiet part said out loud.
What the Society believes
The Society holds eight values. They are not aspirational. They are operational.
Intellectual Honesty. Deliberate Accessibility. Epistemic Humility. Inclusive Rigor. Human Curiosity. Fearless Inquiry. Applied Metacognition. Upstream Thinking.
They are described in full at
thesmac.org/about-the-societyThey govern everything the Society publishes.
What happens next
Dispatches from the Society arrive in your inbox through SMAC: Deciphered. Timely. Evidenced. Rigorous.
The archive lives at thesmac.org. Every department. Every dispatch. All of it searchable, all of it free.
If you have questions, corrections, or disagreements supported by evidence — the Society is listening at hello@thesmac.org. The Curator reads everything. Responses are considered, not automatic.
Welcome to the Fellowship. The questioning begins now.
Where the questioning become the capable.
